End User License Agreement
Licence terms for LumenPod
This End User License Agreement governs your use of the LumenPod desktop application, whether you downloaded it from lumenpod.app or bought it on the Mac App Store. Clauses that apply to only one of the two say so.
Last updated October 25, 2026
Licensor and contact
LumenPod is licensed, not sold, to you by Meini Yan, an individual developer trading as LumenPod (the "Licensor"). References to "LumenPod", "we", "us", or "our" refer to the Licensor. If a legal entity is later substituted as the licensor, the substitute will assume these terms on the same conditions.

Which edition this agreement covers
This agreement governs both editions of the LumenPod desktop application. Where a clause applies to only one of them, it says so.
- Direct download — obtained from lumenpod.app. A licence is purchased on this website, claimed with an activation code, and verified against our server. Limited-quantity redemption codes are sometimes issued. The application updates itself.
- Mac App Store — a paid app bought once from Apple. The whole application is yours on purchase: nothing is unlocked afterwards, and your purchase is verified on your Mac against the Apple Account you bought with. There is no account with us and no activation code. Updates arrive through the App Store.
The two editions also differ in what they can do, because the App Store edition runs under Apple's sandbox: it keeps its library inside the application's own container and does not support external or network volumes or handing media to an external player.
Scope of licence
Subject to your compliance with this agreement, the Licensor grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the application for your personal or internal business use.
For App Store copies, the licence permits use on any Apple-branded product that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules set out in the App Store Terms of Service, including any applicable Family Sharing provisions.
The licence does not transfer ownership of the application or of any intellectual property in it.
Redemption codes
Direct download only. No free trial is offered at present. In its place we sometimes issue redemption codes in limited quantities, redeemed on this website with an account. A code carries a fixed number of seats and may be redeemed once per account; eligibility, quantity, and duration are decided by us, a code may be withdrawn or exhausted at any time, and access obtained through one may be revoked for abuse. A redeemed code currently grants one month.
A redeemed code produces an ordinary licence with an expiry date, not a separate mode of the application. When it ends, paid features stop working until a purchased licence is activated; your library and your files are not deleted or altered.
App Store copies have no redemption codes.
Activation and licence scope
Direct download only. A purchased licence requires an account, a one-time activation code, and registration of the device it is activated on. The application re-verifies the licence against our server periodically and continues to work offline for a grace period between checks.
A licence is for the purchaser's own use on the number of devices stated in the offer at checkout — currently up to three Macs the purchaser owns or controls. It may not be shared, sublicensed, resold, or transferred without written permission, and may not be used to create an unlicensed multi-user or enterprise deployment.
App Store copies are verified against the Apple Account used to purchase them. They make no licensing request to our servers, register no device with us, and require no activation code; installing on another eligible device is a matter of signing in with that same Apple Account and downloading the app again.
Purchase, renewal, and refunds
Direct download. Pricing, taxes, and included entitlements are determined by the offer presented at checkout or in the corresponding order confirmation. Payment is processed by a third-party checkout provider. An annual licence renews automatically until cancelled, and a cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for; a one-time licence is paid once, does not renew, and includes later versions. A month obtained with a redemption code does not renew and cannot be purchased. When a renewing licence lapses, the paid features stop working — your library and your files are not deleted or altered, and existing vaults remain openable, exportable, and recoverable with your access password. A 14-day, no-questions-asked refund window applies from the time of purchase; see the refund policy.
Mac App Store. LumenPod is a paid app: one purchase from Apple, no subscription, no recurring charge, and nothing further to buy inside the application. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under Apple's policies, not by the Licensor, and refund requests must be made to Apple.
Where mandatory consumer protection law gives you rights against the Licensor in addition to the above, those rights are unaffected.
Your content and your responsibility for it
The application stores and, where you choose, encrypts media that you supply. You are solely responsible for that content: you represent that you own it or are otherwise authorised to store and use it, and that doing so does not infringe any third-party right or violate any applicable law.
The application is designed so that your content never reaches the Licensor. The Licensor therefore has no ability to view, index, moderate, retrieve, or remove it, undertakes no obligation to monitor it, and accepts no responsibility for it.
You agree to indemnify and hold the Licensor harmless against any third-party claim, demand, loss, or expense arising from content you store with the application or from your use of the application in breach of this agreement, except to the extent such a claim results from the Licensor's own wrongful act or from liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Encryption, backups, and data loss
Encryption keys are derived from a password you choose. The Licensor does not receive, store, escrow, or have any means of reconstructing that password or the keys derived from it. If you lose your password and your recovery material, your encrypted data cannot be recovered by the Licensor, by Apple, or by anyone else, and it is permanently lost.
You are responsible for maintaining your own backups of your media and of any recovery material, and for verifying that the application suits your workflow, device environment, and compliance needs before relying on it. In the App Store edition the library lives inside the application's container, so deleting the application removes that library from your Mac permanently.
Restrictions
You may not copy (except as permitted by this licence and, for App Store copies, the App Store Usage Rules), modify, distribute, rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute, sublicense, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the application, or bypass its licensing, purchase, or unlock controls, except where such a restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
Updates, maintenance, and support
The Licensor is solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support services for the application, as specified in this agreement or as required by applicable law. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support services for the application.
Direct-download copies update themselves by downloading a signed release from the Licensor. App Store copies are updated through the App Store and do not download or install executable code by themselves.
Some features require internet access, a supported operating system, or — in the direct-download edition — a valid account and licence to continue working.
Additional terms for Mac App Store copies
The sections from "Acknowledgement" to "Third-party beneficiary" below are the Licensed Application terms required by Apple. They apply if you obtained LumenPod from the Mac App Store. They do not apply to a copy downloaded from lumenpod.app, which involves Apple in no way.
Acknowledgement
This agreement is concluded between you and the Licensor only, and not with Apple Inc. ("Apple"). The Licensor, not Apple, is solely responsible for the application and its content.
This agreement may not provide for usage rules for the application that conflict with the App Store Terms of Service as of the date you acquired the application. In case of conflict, those Terms of Service prevail.
Product claims
The Licensor, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the application or your possession and use of it, including: (i) product liability claims; (ii) any claim that the application fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and (iii) claims arising under consumer protection, privacy, or similar legislation, including in connection with the application's use of frameworks such as HealthKit or HomeKit where applicable.
Intellectual property rights
In the event of any third-party claim that the application or your possession and use of it infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, the Licensor, not Apple, will be solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement, and discharge of that claim.
Legal compliance
You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Third-party terms
You must comply with any applicable third-party terms of agreement when using the application, including the terms of any service or network you use it with.
Third-party beneficiary
You acknowledge and agree that Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement, and that upon your acceptance of its terms Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce this agreement against you as a third-party beneficiary of it.
Warranty
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the application is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory.
The Licensor is solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent they are not effectively disclaimed. For App Store copies, in the event of any failure of the application to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the application to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the application, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses attributable to any failure to conform to any warranty will be the Licensor's sole responsibility.
Nothing here limits statutory rights, including any legal guarantee of conformity, that cannot be excluded under mandatory consumer protection law in your place of residence.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Licensor will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, goodwill, or business interruption arising from your use of or inability to use the application.
To the extent permitted by law, the Licensor's total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the application will not exceed the greater of the amount you actually paid for the application in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim and fifty United States dollars.
Nothing in this agreement excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, for wilful misconduct, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
Termination
This licence terminates automatically if you breach this agreement. On termination you must stop using the application and delete all copies, unless applicable law requires otherwise. Termination does not entitle you to a refund except where required by law or, for App Store copies, by Apple's policies.
For direct-download copies, the Licensor may suspend or revoke activation, redeemed access, updates, or connected services if reasonably necessary to enforce licence limits, address abuse, prevent security risks, comply with law, or respond to payment failure, fraud, or chargeback activity.
Governing law and disputes
This agreement is governed by the laws of the Licensor's place of residence, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes will be resolved in the courts of that place — except where mandatory consumer protection law in your own place of residence gives you the right to a different governing law or forum, in which case that law or forum applies.
